Volkswagen's sales in Russia through official dealers totaled 1,391 in the first quarter of 2003, which was 17.8% less than in the same period of last year. The German car giant's Russian headquarters told Rosbalt that its leading seller in the first quarter of this year was the Volkswagen Passat. The company also sold 607 Passat Limousines, 82 Passat Variants, 167 Golfs, 9 Golf Variants, as well as 10 luxury class Phaetons. The Phaeton made its debut on the Russian market last autumn and costs between EUR 60,000 and 120,000.
In the first nine months of 2002, Volkswagen sold over 6,000 cars through its official network of dealers, which was 13% more than in the same period of 2001.
