St. Petersburg hosts conference on navigation systems

Russian and foreign scientists are meeting in St. Petersburg between May 26 and 28 to discuss the functioning of navigation systems at the 10th International Conference on Integrated Navigation Systems.

The forum, which is taking place at the Elektropribor Research Institute, is being sponsored by the international public organisation Academy of Navigation and Motion Control, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the American Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the French Astronautics and Aeronautics Association, the French Navigation Institute, and other organisations.

Forum participants-about 300 specialists from Russia, the USA, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Turkey, Ukraine, and other countries-will be discussing integrated navigation systems designed for naval, surface and aerospace use, as well as control of all mobile objects at sea, in the air and in space, and on the earth surface. They will also present more than 80 reports dealing with the latest developments and technologies in the field of navigation, including some about navigation support for the International Space Station and navigation and control exercised while lowering and landing prospective non-expendable spacecraft. Experts from Sweden and the USA will focus on air prevention of mid-air collisions, while Canadian specialists will give a report on urban road traffic on the basis of a highly sensitive GPS receiver.
