Azerbaijan May Join Anti-terror Crusade

Azerbaijan agrees that international terrorism reserves resolute rebuff, and may eventually help the anti-terror coalition in Afghan-based action--most probably, through medical support, in case a request comes from the coalition, says Ramiz Mekhtiev, chief of the presidential staff. There is small chance for Afghan refugees to find shelter in Azerbaijan, he added. The country is open only to transits, what with a campaign underway to reinforce the borderguard. Azerbaijan is accommodating a million refugees, as it is, and cannot afford any more, Mr. Mekhtiev stressed after several Afghan refugees were detained on the Iran-Azeri frontier.
