On Thursday, Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski presented the Andrzej Drawicz (a famous Polish literary critic) award to Svyatoslav Svyatsky, a writer from St.Petersburg.
The ceremony was attended by Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov.
Andrzej Drawicz (1932-1997) is a well-known Polish critic and Russian literature translator. He is the author of about 20 monographs on Russian and Polish philology. He was an advocate of development of friendly and good neighbourly relations between Moscow and Warsaw irrespective of the political market situation.
After his death the Polish President instituted an annual award of his name which is the most prestigious award given for contribution in the development of Russian-Polish relations.
Svyatsky is the author of the last version of translation of Adam Mickiewicz's poem "Pan Tadeusz".
