Queer Potter Wins Prestigious Prize

Not long ago, even stained bedclothes, a corned cow and canvas covered with elephant dung have been proposed for competition
British sculptor and potter Grayson Perry whose art is known for the motives of pedophilia, sexual acts of violence and death, was awarded the prestigious Turner Prize for his achievement in the British art.

The awarding took place in London's Tate Gallery. At the ceremony, the sculptor was dressed like Clare, the girl who always appears in Perry's works. In his speech, the artist expressed gratitude to his wife Philippe who has been "selflessly loving him in his every artistic finding." Grayson Perry, 43, has got prizes to the sum of $34,000.

Perry is famous for his classical vases depicted with figures intertwined in various sexual poses. Perry admits that many of his artistic images are autobiographical. The confession may hardly be good for Perry's recent work, a vase with images of sexual violence over a child.

Perry is not the only odd Turner Prize laureate. Not long ago, even stained bedclothes, a corned cow and canvas covered with elephant dung have been proposed for competition.
