Foreigners Allowed to Set up Farms in Russia

Now not only Russians are allowed to create farms; foreigners and people without citizenship are given this right as well
A new federal law "On farmer economy" allows foreigners to create farms in Russia; the law came into effect on June 17. The new legislation determines legal, economic and social bases for establishment and activity of farms; it also guarantees people's right for creation and independent activity of farms. 

Now not only Russians are allowed to create farms; foreigners and people without citizenship are given this right as well. It is said in the law that relatives may participate in establishment of farms; at that, one farm cannot comprise more than three families at once.

Farmers say that the law "On farmer economy" is a real breakthrough. According to the new legislation, a decision on lease and ownership of agricultural lands belonging to the governmental or municipal authorities must be taken within 14 days. In addition, the law prohibits fixing minimal size of grounds for farmers in case if the technologies of their activity do not require large areas.
