The passenger traffic in the Asian region plunged by 20 to 30 percent owing to the spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Aeroflot's CEO Valery Okulov announced in an interview to Echo of Moscow radio. Air transportation became unprofitable making the Russian air giant cut the number of flights to China. Despite the sag in passenger traffic Aeroflot has no intention of canceling or postponing flights. The pilots are not allowed to go to public places in the countries that are currently suffering from the disease. As reported earlier, most of the SARS cases have occurred in China.
