Russia may accept Japanese assistance in laying oil pipeline in Siberia

Russia is ready to consider the possibility of Japan's participation in laying an oil pipeline from Angarsk to Nakhodka with a section going to Datsin (China). Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko gave this opinion to reporters today. According to him, the question of laying this oil pipeline was one of the themes of his recent talks with the Japanese ambassador to Russia. "Our counterparts have given new details dealing with the possibility of Japan's participation in this project," Khristenko pointed out. According to him, Russia is ready to review these proposals by Japan from the point of view of economic expediency. At the same time the Deputy Prime Minister declined to give the amount of funds that Japan is ready to invest in this project. However, a source in the Cabinet of Ministers told RBC that the sum of funds that Japan is ready to invest in laying this pipeline was unlimited.
