Two days after the US chopper massacred innocent bystanders around a Bradley vehicle, one day after Afghanistan erupted into violence as scores of Taleban re-emerged and the Green Zone is Baghdad came under fire for the first time, a massive bomb has exploded in the Iraqi capital, killing at least 35 people and leaving dozens injured.
The explosion took place outside a police station in Haifa Street, a busy thoroughfare which is a base for Iraqi freedom fighters loyal to Saddam Hussein.
The Iraqi police force has been the target of many atttacks by elements which consider it as collaborating with the enemy invasion forces.
