The Meteorological Department has forecast more heavy rain for Bombay and its suburbs over the next five days.
The deluge also has delayed flights and rail traffic going in and out of Bombay, while stalled cars and knee-deep water snarled traffic between downtown and the suburbs.
Torrential rains and lightening storms have killed more than 200 people across India since the annual monsoon season began in early June.
Floods, collapsed houses and lighting routinely kill hundreds of people during India's annual June-September monsoon rains, the AP reports.
