In the first ten days of December US Secretary of State Colin Powell will make a visit to Russia. The press service of the US Department of State reported on Tuesday that Powell planned to discuss issues of the fight against terrorism and "soonest and long-term prospects for the restoration of Afghanistan." The US Secretary of State's Russian visit will be part of his December 3-10 tour of Europe and Asia. The first country on his itinerary is Romania where Powell will attend a meeting of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Then Powell will go to Turkey and then to Brussels to take part in a number of NATO ministerial meetings and attend a NATO-EU meeting. Powell is due to leave Brussels for Moscow. After his stay in the Russian capital, the US Secretary of State is expected to visit a number of other countries of the region the names of which will be announced later.
