On Thursday, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Reaz Rahman of Bangladesh told Russian journalists that Russia and Bangladesh are long-established partners in ensuring global peace and security. The two countries have been closely cooperating on the problems of disarmament at the United Nations and participating in its peacemaking operations, he said. The two countries have similar standpoints on such international problems as terrorism, organised crime and drug trafficking and join their efforts in combating these evils. Moscow and Dacca were satisfied with the results of the UN-sponsored Afghan conference in Bonn. Bangladesh expects the Afghan interim government to call the All-Afghan assembly, Loya Jirga, which is to draft a constitution providing peace and stability in the country, the minister said.
