Moldova Declares Upcoming Election In Transdniestria Illegal

The Central Electoral Commission of Moldova has declared the upcoming December 9 election in Transdniestria illegal and unconstitutional due to the fact that it wasn't sanctioned by the CEC, "the only body authorized to organize and hold elections on the territory of Moldova." In a statement released in Chisinau on Wednesday, the CEC urged the population of Transdniestria, diplomatic missions, international organisations, foreigners and nongovernmental organisations to "refrain from participating in any kind of illegal and unconstitutional elections that can undermine the state sovereignty of Moldova."
