Emmanuel Macron: France does not want another world war

Macron: France wants no world war. France simply wants to ship more arms to Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron said that the conflict in Ukraine would last long. It will enter its particularly difficult period later this summer and in early autumn.

France does not want another world war. Paris wants the conflict n Ukraine to end, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with TF1 and France 2.

"We want to stop the war without entering into it. We do not want a world war,” Emmanuel Macron said.

According to Macron, one needs to be prepared for the conflict in Ukraine to last for long.

"A particularly difficult period will be in the summer and in early autumn,” he said.

At the same time, France is not going to cut army spending, whereas Europe will be strengthening its defence.

"I can say that the French military budget will not be cut, quite the contrary,” L'Obs quoted Macron as saying.

In mid-March, Macron spoke of the need for European countries to invest more in defense in order to be prepared for a possible military conflict of "high intensity".

France has been supplying weapons to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian special operation. In April, Macron said that Paris shipped Caesar self-propelled artillery systems to Kyiv. In mid-June, Macron announced plans to deliver six more Caesar systems to Ukraine, in addition to 12 systems that Paris shipped previously.

In late June, French lawyer and journalist Régis de Castelnau reported that the Russian military had captured two Caesar self-propelled complexes. The French General Staff stated that there was no evidence of the capture of the systems.

The Kremlin has repeatedly pointed out that arms supplies to Ukraine would cause even more trouble and suffering to he country.
