Bible Published In Tatar For The First Time

The Russian republic of Tatarstan has a new version of the Bible thanks to the Idel-Press publishing house. For the first time in history, all 27 books of the new testament have been translated into Tatar. The Moscow Academic-Research Institute worked on the Tatar Bible, which has a print run of 25,000 copies. The new version is intended for those Tatars who follow Orthodox Christianity and not Islam. They call themselves "the baptised" and believe themselves to be a unique Turkic ethnic group. According to the state statistics committee, there are about 320,000 of such believers, who live in other regions as well as Tatarstan.
