Fact-checking Policy

Pravdareport.com employees carry responsibility for reporting, writing, and fact-checking their stories. Stories are subject to review by one or more editors. The Site has a multi-level structure for the review and editing of stories that may include fact-checking. These include our editors, department heads, who collaborate with reporters on the origination of stories and typically provide initial review when a story is submitted by a reporter; senior editors who oversight of the daily reporting of our digital publication throughout the day. Editors who oversee our Sites also may be involved in the presentation of stories as well as headlines, news alerts and newsletters. The number of editors who review a story prior to publication and the extent of their involvement varies depending on a range of factors, including complexity, sensitivity, and the pressure of time.

Ethics policy

Our Sites and our materials are not intended for use by children and underage individuals, especially those under 18. All materials on our Sites are intended for use by children of 18 years of age and older individuals. Pravdareport.com will not knowingly allow anyone under the age of 18 to register for any of our Services or provide any personally identifying information. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received personally identifiable information from a user under the age of, we will delete such information.

Our ethics policy is meant to guide Pravdareport.com journalism as we deliver news and information in a rapidly changing media environment. We continually modify and update these guidelines based on feedback from our readers, and from our perceptions of our changing needs. Because the circumstances under which information is obtained and reported vary widely from one case to the next, these guidelines should not be understood as establishing hard and fast rules.

We respect taste and decency, but we understand that concepts of taste and decency are constantly changing in the society. Some words that people of older generation may find offensive may be part of next generation's common vocabulary. We shall avoid profanities and obscenities unless their use is extremely important to a story that its meaning is lost without them.

If editors decide that content containing potentially offensive material has a legitimate news value, editors should use visual and/or text warnings about such material. For example: "Warning: Some images on this site contain graphic images that some people may find disturbing." We do not link to sites that aid illegal activity.

Every comment or link we share on social media should be considered public information, regardless of privacy settings.

Our employees shall refrain from writing, tweeting or posting anyhting that could objectively be perceived as reflecting political, racial, sexist, religious or other bias.

Corrections policy

Pravdareport.com strives for accurate and complete news reports. We endeavor to be promptly responsive in correcting errors in our materials published on our Sites. If we include a correction, clarification or editor's note, we want to tell readers, as clearly and quickly as possible, what was wrong and what shall be considered correct.

It is unnecessary to put notes on stories stating that a story has been updated unless there is a particular reason to note the addition of new information or other change. We consider it necessary to use a correction, clarification or editor's note to inform readers whenever we correct a significant mistake.

If correct an article, photo caption, headline, graphic, video or other materials, we shall promptly publish a correction explaining the change to readers.

If some readers find our language unclear, if some find it difficult to understand what we were actually trying to say in our material, we shall rewrite the unclear pieces of the material to make it as clear as possible to everyone.

A correction that calls into question the entire substance of an article, raises a significant ethical matter or addresses whether an article did not meet our standards, may require an Editor's Note and be followed by an explanation.

If we have published incorrect information in an alert, we should send out an alert informing people that the news reported in the earlier alert was wrong. We shall also provide accurate information instead promptly.

We shall also correct erroneous information on social networks, if we happy to post there any.

We may note that an error was the result of a production problem.

At times, we may be asked to take down, or "unpublish" articles from our Sites. We do not grant all take-down requests. However, we may unpublish an article if we conclude, as a result of internal consultations and investigation, that the published story was indeed inaccurate and therefore needs to be taken down. We may also decide to introduce specific corrections into the earlier published story to make it accurate, instead of taking it down. We shall thus consider whether further editorial action is warranted, but not to remove the article from our Sites as though it has never been published. When we publish publicly available personal data, we will review takedown requests only if the person involved finds themsevles under threat of physical harm because of the existence of the material.
