Vladimir Putin has expressed his concern regarding the growing medicine prices. At a meeting with Vice-Premier Valentina Matvienko in the Kremlin, the President stressed that the poor were unable to afford the prices. While agreeing that the prices for drugs had increased unreasonably, Matvienko recollected that the government had recently introduced a resolution on state control over medicine prices. This document affects the most important and widely distributed pharmaceutical medicines. According to the Vice-Premier, the resolution allows the rise in prices to be kept in check and the process made more transparent and controllable. In addition, other extra measures have been taken in a bid to curb the rising growing prices for medicines.
