Karbala tension on the rise

The situation in Karbala, Iraq is still tense despite the affected ease.

The Spokesperson of Bulgaria's Defence Ministry Rumyana Strugarova explained that the local militia has activated their actions but there have been no accidents.

Trained Iraqi forces are working with the Bulgarian troops patrolling the streets of the holy Shia city. Bulgarian troops stick to their mission-scheduled tasks, including repair works at the Civil Defense Corpus, which has recently revealed weapons deposits concealed in close proximity to Bulgarian Kilo base.

A Bulgarian infantry unit has been deployed in the restive southern city of Karbala as part of a 9,000-strong Polish-led multinational contingent.

Bulgaria's third Iraq unit will be officially dispatched on Thursday in the southern Bulgarian town of Karlovo, where the soldiers were trained.
