The Federal Security Service, known by its acronym FSB, said a group of Russian, Afghan, Uzbek and Chinese citizens was behind the scheme, which involved illegal money transfers across international borders, the Interfax news agency reported.

The group's alleged leader was among the suspects detained, the FSB press service said. The scheme was uncovered during an investigation conducted in Moscow and Uzbekistan that also involved Russian prosecutors and Uzbek law enforcement officers, according to the AP.
