Ukraine leaves options open

The Ukrainian team redeemed itself with a 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia, the same result it suffered against Spain on 14th June, opening the chances of the three teams below Aragones’ side to go through, although Ukraine needs only a draw against Tunisia to confront a Group G team in the next round. Spain goes through with a categorical 3-1 against Tunisia and Togo falls by the wayside with a 2-0 defeat against Switzerland and dreadful refereeing that coast the African side a penalty when the result was 0-1.

The three points were guaranteed by Alexander Frei on 16’ and Tranquilo Barnetta on 88’, meaning that Togo is already out of the competition and France, Switzerland the the Republic of Korea can go through. Abominable refereeing which cost Togo a penalty when the score was still 1-0.

Oleg Blokhin’s team redeemed itself from the heavy defeat (0-4) by Spain, defeating Saudi Arabia by the same result, with goals by Rusol (4’), Rebrov (36’), Shevchenko on 46’ and Kalinichenko on 84’.

Spain plays Saudi Arabia in the next game but is qualified to play against Switzerland, France or the Republica of Korea in the last 16, while Ukraine needs only a draw against Tunisia.
