The legislation will extend the current maximum custody period from 14 days to 28 days, according to the AP.

Last year Tony Blair suggested  plan, according to which police have right to detain suspects without charge for up to 90 days. Legislators voted rejected Blair’s idea and agreed on a compromise of 28 days.
