The attack helicopter - the first new model to be developed in Russia since the Soviet collapse - has night vision capabilities and is equipped with state-of-the-art avionics and weaponry, the RIA Novosti news agency reports.
Ivanov, who made the announcement at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, said that the Mi-28N was militarily and technically superior to the Mi-24, which is currently in service, according to the AP.
Russian air force chief Gen.Vladimir Mikhailov in March said the Defense Ministry would buy 50 Mi-28Ns by 2010.
