Renйe Zellweger single again?

After only four months of marriage, Renйe Zellweger has split from her husband, country singer Kenny Chesney. In a classic example of a whirlwind romance and quickie wedding with an even quicker break-up, the couple have applied to the Los Angeles Superior Court to annul their marriage.

The actress's publicist, Nanci Ryder, said: "They are having their marriage annulled. There is no further comment."

Chesney's publicist, Holly Gleason, said: "It's true they are getting an annulment. It is a mutual decision. I'll have more information soon."

No one was able to explain why the marriage, which began with a sunset ceremony in front of 35 family members and friends on St John in the Virgin Islands, should have ended so quickly, This Is London says.

The couple, neither of whom had previously been married, met at the tsunami relief Concert For Hope on 15 January, where Chesney sang and Zellweger took phone pledges of donations.

Their 15-minute marriage ceremony was conducted by a woman preacher. Zellweger, who has starred in both Bridget Jones films as well as Jerry Maguire, Cold Mountain, Down With Love and Chicago, wore a dress by her favourite designer, Carolina Herrera.

Rumours began circulating soon after the wedding that the pair spent little time together. In July reports emerged that the marriage was plagued by "constant bickering".

Asked about the state of her marriage at a press conference last week to publicise the London premiere of her new film, Cinderella Man, Zellweger replied: "I'm happily married, but I don't want to talk about it because I want to keep my precious things precious."

The couple were last photographed together jogging in Dallas in May. A week later they were seen together at one of Chesney's concerts in Philadelphia.

Zellweger, 36, failed to attend her husband's final concert in a sixmonth tour in Louisville, Kentucky, last month, preferring to stay at home in Pomfret, Connecticut. A source said: "Typically the final show in a long tour is considered a celebration and you'd think Renйe would join her husband there.
