The stability in the Central Asia is a very important factor of the Russia's security. This was disclosed by Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Oleg Chernov at the International scientific-practical conference "Russia and Central Asia - issues of co-operation and security." "The stability, the economic and social growth of the Central Asia are very important for Russia, especially for Russia's security," Chernov said.
The Central Asian region is very rich, in particular it contains approximately 3-3,5 bln metric tons of oil.
However, the political stability in a number of countries of the region does not coincide with demands of its rapid economic development, Chernov noted.
According to him, "the conditions for the development of the national security system in the region are only being formed at the present moment." Chernov believes, that the only regional stability factor under the present circumstances in Central Asia is the presence of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).
The rapid deployment collective forces, formed within the framework of the CSTO, play in important role in the provision of security in the Central Asian region, Chernov said. The co-operation between Russia and the Central Asia is necessary due to the change of times.
