Russia to play key role on world energy markets, says Exxon Mobil head

In perspective, Russia will play a key role on the world energy markets. This opinion was expressed by Lee Raymond, head of the American company Exxon Mobil, at the Moscow session of the World Economic Forum.

According to him, Russia possesses the biggest resources of gas and can satisfy the demand of Europe in this kind of fuel. Apart from that, Lee Raymond expressed the opinion of American experts that China and Japan might become good markets for Russia. We see that these countries have a potential to receive the raw material, and Russia - to supply it, said the head of the Exxon Mobil.

In his opinion, in order to expand the markets, the Russian leadership has to think first of all about what changes can been made in the economic sphere. I have in mind, for example, the Law on Mineral Resources. Apart from that, Russia has to modernise the market system and to work over the normative legal basis. Maybe it has also to adopt a number of new laws, said Lee Raymond.

He also named the judicial and tax systems which have to be improved and worked over. In his opinion, it is also necessary to perfect the fiscal regime, to make the tax system more transparent and to work out offshore systems. At the same time he said that these processes are already going on in Russia.
