Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara exchanged their opinions concerning the UN Security Council draft resolution on the postwar settlement in Iraq.
The Ministers exchanged their opinions on May 21 in a telephone conversation initiated by Igor Ivanov, the Russian Foreign Ministry's department of information and press reported.
Mutually acceptable decisions on the draft resolution on Iraq could be already taken this week, the Russian Foreign Minister disclosed yesterday in the course of his visit to Kiev. Ivanov believes that "in the course of the forthcoming discussions at the UN Security Council it will be possible to create a favourable background for attraction of the international community to the postwar settlement in Iraq."
