Russian President Vladimir Putin and King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustav have met in the Green Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace to discuss the effect of the US-led anti-terrorist operation that has begun in Afghanistan on the global developments. Also taking part in the Kremlin meeting are the Russian President's wife Lyudmila Putin and Swedish Queen Silvia. The fact that the Swedish king is visiting Moscow at the moment speaks volumes, the Russian leader said adding that the two countries are maintaining cooperation in many other areas. He was pleased to note that escorting the king on the Moscow visit is a team of Swedish businessmen. King Carl, on his part, said he is glad to be in Moscow despite the current world developments. Apart from Moscow, King Carl is expected to pay visits to Saint Petersburg, Arkhangelsk and Murmansk. Preceding the meeting between the Russian president and Swedish king was an official ceremony which took place in the St. George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace. Vladimir Putin and his wife greeted the Swedish royal couple, the two nation's anthems were played after which the leaders introduced members of their delegations.
