President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmonov believes that the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan can only be considered successful after peace has been established in the region. Presidential press secretary Zafar Saidov stressed on Wednesday that bombing terrorist camps and Taliban and bases would not be enough to bring peace to the region and the world. In Rakhmonov's opinion, peaceful processes should be set in place following the successful conclusion of the first, military stage of the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan. Rakhmonov stressed that peace in this country was vitally important for Tajikistan. According to him, a successful end to the operation would stabilise the region and allow Tajikistan to improve its economic performance.
