The Taliban leadership submitted a request to the Organisation of Islamic Conference to send a delegation to the country in order to estimate the aftermath of American missile and bomb strikes and to evaluate the inflicted damage, the Pakistan-based Afghan Islamic Press reported on Thursday. The Taliban claims that raids on Afghanistan have claimed more than a thousand lives, destroyed mosques, hospitals and residential areas. There are 55 members of the OIC, but the Afghan place have been remaining vacant for several years: neither the Taliban movement, nor the UN-recognized Northern Alliance participate in the work of the aforementioned organisation. The OIC have taken certain steps to restore peace in Afghanistan. It repeatedly tried to make the opposing sides meet each other at the negotiations table, but with no considerable success.
