Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in New York with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. As RIA Novosti correspondent reports, deputy head of the Kremlin administration Sergei Prikhodko told reporters about it. According to him, during this conversation it is planned to discuss the role of the United Nations in the post-crisis settlement in Afghanistan. They also will speak about the role of the United Nations in strengthening international relations as a whole, about raising the efficiency of the existing UN mechanisms and about activity of the UN Secretary General's special representative in Afghanistan Lakhdar Ibrahimi. Quite possible that the situation in the Middle East will also be touched upon. Neither did Sergei Prikhodko exclude that some other items might appear in the New York programme of the head of the Russian state.
