Documents Prepared For CIS Summit In Moscow

Documents for a summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States, scheduled to take place in Moscow on November 29-30, have been discussed Thursday by head of the CIS Executive Committee Yuri Yarov and Belarus' Prime Minister Gennadi Novitski. Yarov remarked that arrangements for the forthcoming summit present no difficulties, although there are some issues which require additional attention. Among them is a resolution on the order of organizing joint anti-terrorist operations in the territory of CIS member countries and a convention on the standards of CIS residents' election rights and liberties. The latter is to be considered with regard to Commonwealth observers' activity at presidential elections in Belarus. Besides, the Executive Committee budget will be a subject of routine discussion, Yarov said. According to him, the organizers of the summit will also have to elect a speaker for the Council of Prime Ministers. A prescription links the procedure of electing the speakers to the Russian alphabetic order. This means that the Georgian Prime Minister is to be speaker at the upcoming meeting of the Council of Prime Ministers. Georgia, however, has so far failed to elect a premier, Yarov recalled.
