US General Assesses US Operation In Afghanistan

General Tommy Franks, Commander-in-Chief of the US Central Command, is satisfied with how the anti-terrorist operation is going on in Afghanistan. Speaking at a news conference in Tashkent, the American general said that the United States had started accomplishing its main task - the destruction and eradication of the global terrorist network. According to him, the destruction of the Taliban movement is a component part of this task. The general said that he was satisfied with how the operation in Afghanistan was going on and that in the past ten days there was an appreciable progress in the anti-terrorist operation. On Tuesday evening, General Tommy Franks arrived in Uzbekistan from Afghanistan. According to him, the main aim of his arrival is to visit the American servicemen at the Khanabad aerodrome in Uzbekistan in view of the Thanksgiving Day.
