CIS Border Troop Commanders To Discuss Border Situation And Cooperation Problems In Moscow

The 42nd session of the Council of Border Troop Commanders to open in Moscow Thursday will focus on the situation on the borders of the CIS member-states and pressing problems of cooperation between border departments. This was disclosed by the press centre of the Russian Federal Frontier Service (FFS). The session will consider a draft concept of coordinated border policy, a draft programme for upgrading cooperation between CIS member-states to counter the most dangerous forms of transborder crime and a plan of activities of the Council of Border Troop Commanders for 2002. The session will be attended by heads and command representatives of border departments of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Moldova, Tajikistan, and Ukraine, the FFS press centre noted. The Council of Border Troop Commanders of the CIS countries was established by the decision of the Council of heads of states, members of the Commonwealth, at the conference held in Moscow July 1992.
