Ethnic clashes in Nigeria provoke 50 deaths

In October, militia from the Tiv ethnic group captured and killed 19 Nigerian Army soldiers. In reprisal, the Nigerian Army killed around 200 Tiv villagers in the state of Benue.

In an escalation of the violence, 200 armed Tiv militia attacked a Sunti encampment on the border between the states of Benue and Taraba, causing at least 50 deaths, according to the Nigerian authorities.
