On Tuesday, the Assembly of Peoples' Deputies of Kirghizia's two-house parliament approved of the government decision to provide Manas international airport outside Bishkek to US warplanes. Earlier, this decision was approved by a majority of the Legislative Assembly of the Kirghiz parliament. While speaking to the deputies, Kirghiz President Askar Akayev declared that US warplanes would be used to run the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan. He laid a particular stress on the fact that giving the US Air Force access to its airfields Kirghizia was first of all proceeding from the national security interests, and the deployment of US warplanes in Kirghizia "would guarantee stability and security" of the country itself.
