The United Nations General Assembly's resolution on Bosnia and Herzegovina is aimed at supporting efforts to implement the Dayton accords, the Russian Foreign Ministry's press department says in a statement. The new resolution was adopted by consensus at the UN General Assembly's 56th session in order to ensure the normal functioning of government agencies of all levels, to create new enabling legislation, to form a common economic zone, and to usher refugees and displaced persons back home, the statement says. According to the Foreign Ministry's statement, the newly adopted resolution reiterates the global community's support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's independence and territorial integrity within its internationally acknowledged borders. It also calls for full and rapid implementation of the Dayton agreements, which it describes as a key mechanism for achieving a lasting and fair peace in the country and stability and cooperation in the whole region. The resolution welcomes the timely adoption, by Bosnia and Herzegovina's federal government and the governments of its entities, of a comprehensive plan of activities to prevent terrorism in that country, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina's contribution to the global anti-terror campaign, this according to the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement.
