Seven Russian defense enterprises have established a consortium for the development and promotion of cruise-missile combat systems to the international market, RIA Novosti was told on Monday at the administration of the Machine-Building Scientific-Industrial Association (NPOMASH), based in the town of Reutovo near Moscow. Alongside the NPOMASH association, which leads in the new consortium, it includes the OKB Vympel, based in Moscow; PO Strela, based in Orenburg; TsNII Granit, based in St.Petersburg; Machinostroitel factory, based in Perm; PO Avangard, based in Safonovo; NPO Elekromekhanika, based in Miass. "Pooling their technical and financial resources, the first consortium of Russian enterprises manufacturing this kind of armaments will be able very soon to develop supersonic antisubmarine cruise missiles on the basis of the Yakhont missile. They will have an efficiency of hitting waterborne targets", said the NPOMASH association.
