Only 8 per cent of Russian citizens approve of the US decision to withdraw from the ABM Treaty while 43 per cent estimate it as a wrong step and 31 per cent do not care. These are the results of a public opinion poll conducted by the Public Opinion Fund among 1,500 respondents in 100 settlements and cities of Russia on December 22, 2001. 42 per cent of respondents think that Russia should take measures in response to this step and 28 per cent believe no measures should be taken. According to the poll, 66 per cent of Russians heard about the US decision on the ABM.
