Moscow hails the results of the Bonn meeting which gathered representatives of Afghanistan's leading political groups, held under the UN aegis. This is said in the statement by Alexander Yakovenko, the official spokesman for Russia's foreign ministry, circulated on Wednesday. For the first time in many years, Afghans sat down at the negotiating table and agreed to set up provisional power bodies, including a provisional administration, and to later convene an All-Afghan legislative assembly. The Russian side assessed the Bonn meeting as a landmark event on the way to the post-conflict settlement in Afghanistan, which will free this country from terrorism and drugs, a country which lives in peace with its neighbours and the rest of the world. We are hopeful that both the participants in the inter-Afghan conference and the entire international community do everything it takes them to consistently translate the decisions of the Bonn meeting into life, Alexander Yakovenko stressed in his statement.
