Defending champion Maria Sharapova advanced to the fourth round at Wimbledon on Saturday, beating Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia 6-2, 6-4.
Sharapova had two match points while leading 5-3, but Srebotnik held serve and then had a break point in the next game before Sharapova rebounded and served out the match.
The second-seeded Russian, who is 2-0 against Srebotnik, will face either Nathalie Dechy of France or Alyona Bondarenko of Ukraine in the next round.
Sharapova has had a relatively easy run at the All England Club this year, beating Nuria Llagostera Vives of Spain 6-2, 6-2 in the first round and 15-year-old Sesil Karatantcheva of Bulgaria 6-0, 6-1 in the second.
