The Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) will create the global Islamic multilanguage TV channel. The project of this channel was approved on Sunday by the executive committee of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) at a session held in the United Arab Emirates. The project stipulates the establishment of a station which will spread Islam, create "the right image of this religion and explain the views of the Islamic world on various problems." The TV station, according to the project, will prepare three kinds of broadcasts -- for citizens of the Moslem countries, for Islamic minorities and diasporas in foreign states and for non-Moslems. The broadcasting is planned to be conducted in many languages, including Russian, Spanish, English, French, Chinese, Portuguese and Hindi. The correspondent's network of the TV station will be created in ten countries, including Russia. The budget of the channel will make up 30 million dollars a year. The headquarters of the station will be located in the city of Doha (Qatar). Amir Hamad, bin Khalifa al-Thani of Qatar, which now chairs the OIC, initiated the creation of the global Islamic TV broadcast. The project worked out by the ISESCO should be approved by the session of the OIC ministers of culture and information to be held in Doha and then by heads of its 55 member countries.
