All samples of a killer flu virus mistakenly sent worldwide by an institute in the United States have been found, the &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/main/2002/03/22/27143_.html ' target=_blank>World Health Organization (WHO) said Wednesday.
All samples have now been destroyed except for one in Lebanon and a little portion in the United States, said Maria Cheng, spokeswoman for the United Nations health agency.
The sample that had gone missing in &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/politics/2002/01/15/25592.html ' target=_blank>Lebanon was found at the airport of Beirut and would be destroyed soon, while those sent to Mexico and South Korea, which were also previously unaccounted for, have been destroyed, she told reporters here.
"There are still some laboratories in the United States that haven't confirmed the destruction of the samples they were sent," Cheng said, adding that 98 percent of the US samples had been destroyed, reports Xinhuanet.
According to Health Talk, Lebanese health officials indicated the virus is safely secured and a decision is being made to either destroy it, or return it to the U.S. college where it originated.
