David Daniels gives concert in Moscow

Prominent American counter-tenor David Daniels will give a solo concert in the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory on Saturday, July 17. He will sing Bach and Handel's vocal compositions to the accompaniment of the Hermitage ensemble led by famous oboist Alexei Utkin, the conservatory's press service said.

David Daniels debuted in April 1992. He brilliantly performed Sesto's part in Handel's opera "Julius Caesar" in the Metropolitan Opera. After that, the singer enjoyed success in Covent Garden (London), Orchestra Hall (Chicago), Theatre du Chatelet (Paris) and other major opera houses. David Daniels won the Richard Tucker Award in 1997 and America's Vocalist of the Year in 1999. The singer was also nominated for a 1999 Grammy Award for his disc of Handel's arias.

Today's concert will be his first performance in Russia.
