Main festivities of days of Cyrillic script and culture will take place in Russia

On May 24 - the remembrance day for equal-to-the-Apostles Saints Cyril and Methodius - main festivities of the days of Cyrillic written script and culture will take place in Russia.

According to the Moscow Patriarchate, a divine liturgy will be served in the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Moscow Kremlin, to be followed by a procession of the cross to the monument to Cyril and Methodius in Slav Square. A prayer service will be held there.

In the course of the ceremony, the international prize of Saints Cyril and Methodius will be awarded to winners.

On the same day, in the Moscow International Music House, a festive programme will be shown, devoted to the 450th anniversary of the first Russian printed book. In the evening participants in the festivities will attend a premiere of Alexander Glazunov's ballet Raymonda in the Bolshoi Theatre.

On May 26, as part of the days of Cyrillic script and culture, a round table will be organised at the Moscow Nationalities House on: "Russian Language and Literature, History and Orthodox Culture." On May 28, a monograph of the State Academy of Slav Culture, "History and Culture of the Slav Peoples", will be presented in Moscow City Hall.

On top of that, on May 28, a traditional children's pilgrimage to the Moscow region will kick off.

On May 29, an international symposium, "The Slav World in the Third Millennium", will be held in the Christ the Saviour Cathedral. Participants will discuss the theme: "The Place of Slav Culture in the Context of European Civilisation." The days of Cyrillic script and culture will wind up on May 29 by a gala evening in the Christ the Saviour Cathedral.
