The total volume of investments in housing construction exceeded 28bn rubles (about $940m) in the Moscow region over the first nine months of 2001. This was declared at a research conference devoted to the attraction of additional investments in the economy of the region. Most investments go mainly to housing construction. 1.712 square meters of apartments were built since the beginning of 2001. According to forecasts, 1.6m square meters will be built in multi-storied buildings and 1.127m - in single family dwellings this year.
