Tax Police Accuse Automotive Companies Of Illegally Claiming VAT Reimbursements

The use of false export schemes to claim VAT reimbursements from the federal budget by large automotive and oil companies located in the territory of the Volga Federal District has been uncovered, Vladimir Makarov, deputy head of the Federal Tax Police Department in the Volga Federal District, said at a news conference in Moscow today. He stated that facts of false exports had been uncovered at the Gorky Automobile Plant, the Volga Motor Plant, and oil companies of the region. The sum of damage caused to the state reached several hundred million rubles. In total, the tax police reviewed 12.3 reports on suspected tax crimes in the first 10 months of this year, and 7,000 criminal cases were filed. The state was compensated for 15 billion rubles (about $501.2 million) in damages.
