An expert group will consider the ways to revive production at the Vympel defence complex, the biggest in Eastern Russia. The group will fly out to the Amursk city on the Amur river, where the factory's main workshops are located. In mid 1980's, the factory was producing small arms ammunition. "Its workshops have had the best equipment of the time," Roman Sokolovski, the Advisor to the Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, was quoted as saying. At the same time, he said that unfortunately, "no real ways to reform this production had been found within the conversion programme" and now, it hardly "uses a part of its capabilities."
