Of the 135 hotels in Saint Petersburg 24 will be reserved for VIP guests during the celebrations of the city's 300th anniversary. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was announced by Deputy Russian Prime Minister Valentina Matvienko at a press conference in Saint Petersburg on Friday February 21. She added that important guests would also be accommodated in specially equipped cottages in Strelna on the outskirts of the city and on four leased ships (two Russian and two foreign ships) specially redesigned as hotels. The deputy prime minister said she was sure that there would be enough room available in the hotels of Saint Petersburg for those tourists wishing to visit the city during the week of the celebrations.
In order to make full use of the space available, hotels are currently making agreements with the delegations that have been invited to the celebrations, Ms Matvienko said. What is more, guests are even being asked to specify the exact times of their arrival and departure. A special state committee has been formed to manage preparations for hotel accommodation during the week of celebrations. As Ms Matvienko emphasised, all plans for accommodating guests are being coordinated by the city administration.
