British company Norimet Limited (a 100%-owned daughter company of Norilsk Nickel) has signed a long-term contract with General Motors to supply palladium, platinum and rhodium. Norilsk Nickel's press office today announced that the contract will ensure stable supplies of the mining and smelting company's products to the US precious metals market.
Norilsk Nickel is Russia's largest producer of base and precious metals. Nornickel's enterprises produce nickel, copper, cobalt, precious metals (gold, silver, platinum group metals), palladium, selenium, tellurium, technical sulphur, coal, and other products aimed at the industrial and technical sectors. Nornickel's income in 2001 was USD 1.16 billion.
Norimet Ltd is responsible for foreign sales of nickel and copper produced by Norilsk Nickel. The company's headquarters are in London.
