A man in a skeleton costume tired large firework inside a convenience store, sending multicolor rockets ricocheting around the shop and prompting the hospitalization of the storekeeper's baby.
A man clad in a black cloak and the skeleton mask popularized by the horror movie "Scream" entered the store in Bolton, about 211 miles (340 kilometers) north of London, Monday night.
Police released security camera footage showing him dropping the device and walking off. It then went off, firing up to 200 red, green, pink and yellow rockets into the enclosed space as the storekeeper struggles to remove it.
The owner finally manages to kick the device out the door. He was uninjured, but his 15-month-old son was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital as a precaution after vomiting due to smoke inhalation, Greater Manchester Police said in a statement.
"This was not a small firework. It could be described as an industrial-style firework with up to 200 repeat rounds," Bolton Police Inspector Tony Kenyon said. "It was a very dangerous prank and resulted in a young baby having to go to hospital."
Police have appealed for help tracing the masked man shown in the video.
